How Close to Black Mirror Are We? ("we", "us") is an independent content website. We try to collect as little personal data as possible. This page explains what is collected, by whom, and your rights.

What we collect

We do not ask you to create an account. We use analytics and advertising services to understand which pages are read and to help fund the site. These services may use cookies or similar identifiers and process limited technical data such as your approximate location (country level), device and browser type, the pages you visit and the site that referred you.

Third-party services we use

  • Google Analytics (Google LLC) — aggregate traffic measurement. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Ahrefs Analytics — cookieless website analytics.
  • Google AdSense (Google LLC) — displays advertisements. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show and measure ads, limit how often ads are shown, prevent fraud, and personalise ads where permitted by law and your choices.
  • Vercel — hosting and content delivery; processes server request logs.

Your choices and rights

You can manage Google advertising personalisation in Google's My Ad Center, block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and opt out of Google Analytics with Google's opt-out add-on. Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or California's CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold and to object to its processing.

Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are shown a consent message where required. They can use that message to make or change choices about advertising and analytics.
